Texas Tech Kappa Alpha Thetas Recognized!

On Thursday, November 5, the Gamma Phi Chapter of Kappa Alpha Theta will be honored with one of the "Get Involved" Awards at the Volunteer Center of Lubbock's Cornucopia Luncheon for their service with our local CASA program.

The Texas Tech Chapter of Kappa Alpha Theta is being acknowledged for extraordinary service towards CASA of the South Plains during the past year by participating in National Adoption Day and CASA’s Kids 4 Kids Toy Drive, organizing a gift drive for CASA teenagers in foster care, and planning, organizing and hosting a silent auction benefiting CASA.

Twenty Years of Making a Difference

CASA and Kappa Alpha Theta Fraternity recently announced their twentieth anniversary of working together to make a difference in abused and neglected children’s lives!

Kappa Alpha Theta Fraternity, with 125 international college chapters, 190 international alumnae chapters, and more than 210,000 initiated members provides financial support to CASA programs across the country, as well as volunteer support and child abuse awareness. Through this 20-year relationship, Kappa Alpha Theta and its Foundation have proudly contributed nearly $1 million to CASA.

The local chapter has also helped turn fundraiser, the Tech Theta "Speak Up for Kids CASA 5k", into a very successful event. For this event the ladies volunteered office hours at CASA to help prepare for the race, ran a sign-up booth on campus, informed all the other sororities and fraternities about the event, stuffed race packets at their lodge, designed an event t-shirt, staffed the packet pick-up days prior to the race, organized the entertainment events at the race, in addition to all the ladies being present as course monitors and event volunteers on the day of the race.

Over the past 20 years, CASA and Kappa Alpha Theta have collaborated to raise community awareness of child abuse and help these children navigate their way through the child welfare system. The ladies of Kappa Alpha Theta are truly helping CASA make a difference in the lives of children!

CASA of the South Plains is proud to be a part of this national partnership!
