VOLUNTEER SUPERVISOR
JOB DESCRIPTION
1. Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree or
2. Minimum of two years experience in volunteering or
3. Experience in the following areas: volunteer recruitment, screening and management of volunteers, public relations civil court system, and neglect issues.
1. Administrative, organizational and management skills.
2. Ability to manage volunteers effectively.
3. Oral and written communication skills.
4. General knowledge of nonprofit business practices and children services.
5. Ability to plan and lead in strategic manner.
This position is supervised by the Program Director.
1. Assists in developing agency goals.
2. Follows procedures as set out in the agency’s casework manual of policies and procedures.
3. Participates in the staff meetings, providing appropriate recruitment and public relations data and information.
1. Responsible for assisting in developing a Retention Plan.
2. Works with Volunteers Committee, staff, Board of Directors and any other committee in coordinating appreciation activities.
1. Maintains files according to CASA’s policies and procedures
2. Assigns volunteers to appropriate cases.
3. Provides support and guidance to volunteers on cases in accordance with agency policy and procedures.
4. Writes, supervises and approves the volunteer’s court report.
5. Coordinates the procedures and documentation for monthly volunteer contacts as addressed in the agency’s casework manual.
6. Insures effective communication between the volunteers, Child Protective Services, the courts, attorneys, and any other relevant parties.
7. Informs the Program Director immediately of any problems in regard to volunteers or open cases.
8. Coordinates the return of the completed case file and conducts an evaluation of the case and the volunteer in accordance with the agency policies and procedures.
1. Represents CASAs as a professional and positive liaison in court, to the public and welfare agencies, the district attorney’s office, the private child welfare agencies, other government agencies, professional collaborations, and other relevant organizations.
2. Coordinates CASAs’ presence at court and CPS hearings, including Emergency removals, show cause hearings, motions to modify and terminations in reference to caseload.
3. Consults with appropriate CPS staff regarding volunteer assignments.
1. Assists in the training of volunteers.
