Two new positions were added in 2007 thanks to generous grants awarded by The CH Foundation, the M.S.Doss Foundation and the Wichita Falls Area Community Foundation. Staff increased to 12 full time employees with the addition of a new Volunteer Supervisor for Lubbock County and one part time employee with the addition of our Training Specialist.

73 new volunteers were trained during the 11 training classes held in three counties. Numerous professionals donated their time by sharing their skills and expertise.

The average length of time CASA children spent in care was 19 months. This was six months less than the state wide average for children who left foster care last year. This saved taxpayers over 1.41 million dollars based on the average foster care expenditures for Lubbock County last year of approximately $11,888 per child.

CASA's second "Speak Up for Kids 5K" presented by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas was held April 28, 2007. Over 800 participants and 200 volunteers supported CASA during this event. The race raised over $19,000 for CASA.

During the month of August, five playhouses were on display at the South Plains Mall and eventually raffled off for our second "Casas for CASA." Over $27,000 was earned during this month long event.

CASA participated in "National Adoption Day" along with DFPS and the Foster Care Court in November and happily celebrated with 26 children as they were adopted into their "forever families."

CASA's third annual "Holidays of Hope for Kids" event was held on November 28, 2007. This luncheon, which included a children's style show and holiday tree auction, raised over $20,000 for CASA.

The MyPak project started by the Singles Ministry at Lubbock's First Baptist Church took off in 2007. The backpacks are provided for CASA children as they enter foster care and help instill a sense of personal worth and provide needed supplies for the child during their first few days in foster care.
